About

About

Our goal is to challenge the status quo, embrace innovation, and create meaningful, lasting change to academia.

Driven by a vision to inspire change, place people first and push boundaries, we deliver work that truly makes a difference.

Our Theory of change

The problems with academic culture, trust in research and publishing are all interlinked. The publishing system is the lynchpin for change as this is where the primary incentives and drivers of academic behaviour are. However, changing publishing cannot happen in isolation and must occur alongside changes in culture. With these changes, trust in research and researchers can also be tackled, with preprints offering routes to experiment and culture changes rewarding more trustworthy behaviours.

Our Vision

A Community governed life science communication ecosystem based around preprints that are associated with a range of trust indicators and a culture within academia that promotes collaboration, is people-first and rewards rigorous, high quality, open science.

Our Values

Our values shape our approach to all of our projects and work.

People-first

Change occurs through people making choices and taking actions. We empower those who want to inspire change. This approach enshrines diversity and equity at our core.

Authenticity

Genuine leadership and trust in what we advocate requires authenticity. We strive to always bring honesty and an authentic approach to all of our work and interactions with others.

Evidence-driven

Change should not be pure opinion, it should be rooted in evidence. Where things are more experimental they should generate evidence and be evaluated. All our efforts are evidence-driven.

Adaptable

We are responsive to changing circumstances and landscapes, working to meet the needs of the project or client.

Lead by example

We cannot advocate for change if we ourselves are not embodying those principles. Leading by example includes being transparent and sharing openly as much as possible.

Actions over words

We work for real change. This means pushing boundaries, taking risks and not avoiding difficult action.
